Iron Writer is the Kupopolis short story writing competition that is held twice a year. Creative writers from outside Kupopolis and within are invited to jump on our boards, where they have one week to write the best story they can from three different elements that are disclosed on the first day of the week of the competition. Then, everyone is invited to rate each other's posts, and in the end, the top three winners are revealed. These competitions make for some of Kupopolis's most exciting times.

2001 - The first year of the Iron Writer competition saw only ten competitors, but the competition was strong across the board, with not even one weak story among all the entries made. Only Celiose saw the official results of the scoring, but he was quick to assure everyone that the voting was "very, very close."

The ingredients for this Iron Writer were "A Famous Landmark in the Kupopolis Universe, Secret Development of a New Technology, and a Love Confession."

2002 - The second Iron Writer competition saw a small swell in the entries -- up to 13 from 10 -- and even more fierce competition than before. The ingredients this year were "A Quote from Shakespeare, a Time Scope of 24 Hours, and Unity".

2003: Summer - Third time is a charm, featuring a still larger roster of stories from increasingly talented writers, both old and new. The ingredients even offered more challenge than years prior: "A Desloate Mountaintop, The Exclusive Use of Three Different Perspectives, and a Travelling Salesman."

2003: Winter -- Still going strong with 13 entries. New and old faces abound, this IW competition was the first one to feature a word limit: 13,000 words. And for all the sappy stuff listed above about how hard ingredients got, this season's outing was easily the worst yet: "A Song and Dance Routine, Three Generations of a Family, and A Violent Storm"

2004 -- There was no word limit for this competition, but it featured one of the most devious ingredients yet: "The Story must be in the form of a 3 Act Play". Other ingredients included "A Secret Society" and "A Connection to a Previous Iron Writer Entry".

2005 -- This year featured a two round contest, with round 1 having a word limit of 3000 words and three ingredients: "A Unique Item of Clothing", "A Prominent Chase Scene", and "A Semi-Truck". The Second round allows for six finalists, a word limit of up to 6000, had to connect to one of the Round 1 entries and offered a choice choice between six ingredients: "A Bet", "A Humorous Moogle", "A Foreign Language", "A Story in Three Dimensions", "Bringing a Gun to a Sword Fight", and "A Connection to a Second First Round Entry."
